Saturday saw the 23rd Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, a competitive yet friendly gathering of miraculously well-behaved pets, comparatively monstrous human children, and the adults who dragged them all there. Despite the dog parade’s emphasis on interspecies intermingling, much of the media coverage of the event tends to focus on what the owners have to say about their pets’ costumes.
