LIFE AFTER SHARK TANK, DESIGNER PET APPAREL COMPANY, KANE & COUTURE RAISES FUNDING TO REACH EXPECTED PROJECTIONS
After After Appearing on ABC’s Shark Tank, Designer Pet Apparel Company, Kane & Couture to Launch Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign and Unveil New Value Driven Lines at 2014 Global Pet Expo
NEW YORK, NY - Since appearing on ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank, Founder and President of Kane & Couture, Amber Lee Forrester, has been working to meet the terms of the contingency deal set in place by her potential Shark Tank investors, Daymond John and Lori Greiner. After Forrester projected $1.8 million in sales in the next year, she was challenged by the Sharks to obtain$300 to 400 thousand in opening orders for the Sharks to agree to invest in her company. Forrester immediately brought on an operations manager and interns to support her efforts and prepare for the unveiling of Kane & Couture’s expanded product line to major retailers, independent retailers and distributors at the upcoming Global Pet Expo, March 12-14th in Orlando, Florida. “My goal for the trade show is to reach national as well as international retailers and distributors,” says Forrester. “After five years in business and the platform Shark Tank has given us, I am confident that this is our time to expand.”
In addition to the Kane & Couture and Bubba Dog collections, the company will debut their new value driven lines of trendy canine apparel, Imperial Pup and Urban Hound, in an effort to capture sales from a larger span of retailers ranging from value based to boutique. Forrester hopes that the funding of her company’s growth efforts will come in part from the success of her current crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com. Kane & Couture aims to raise $25,000 in 45 days to use towards tradeshow costs, production and increased overhead during expansion.
Since the launch of Kane & Couture in 2008 and Bubba Dog in 2010, the lines have been carried in over 100 independent retailers in North and South America, Europe, Australia and Japan. As the leading brand, Kane & Couture offers stylish signature collections of collars, harnesses, leashes, apparel and recently carriers, bowls and pet-themed apparel and accessories for humans. Bubba Dog was originally established as the value based line, but will now serve as the mid-price level line as Kane & Couture introduces Imperial Pup and Urban Hound to market towards discounted and price sensitive retailers.
“Imperial Pup was born from the desire to give customers fabulous style at affordable prices,” says Forrester.” “Imperial Pup could be described as the little sister to Kane & Couture, and Urban Hound as the little brother to our Bubba Dog collection.” Urban Hound offers customers a more rugged and sporty look. If all goes well, customers can expect to see Imperial Pup and Urban Hound on the shelves of major retailers by the Fall of 2014.
Forrester’s appearance on Shark Tank introduced Kane & Couture to millions of viewers, and showed that canine necessities can be “fashionable, functional and affordable.” Debuting the new and expanded Kane & Couture collections at the Global Pet Expo allows Forrester to show the ‘Sharks’ that she means business and Kane & Couture is worth their investment.
